Mt. Hood
Standing at about 11,200 feet, Mt. Hood is clearly visible from Portland about 50 miles away. We spent a wonderful June day on the mountain, hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail, and afterwards enjoyed a sumptuous meal at the Timberline Lodge, famous for its cuisine. Built at an elevation of about 6000 feet on the mountain’s southern flank, the Lodge is a National Historic Landmark filled with fabulous examples of 1930s era WPA arts and architecture.
