Florentine Shadow

Many of the streets in the old part of Florence are paved with ancient stones chiseled to give them texture against slipping in wet weather. Millions of feet have walked and shuffled over these stones in all kinds of weather, and have done so for hundreds of years. I imagined this shadow of an unknown walker to be an embodiment of all those who have walked here before, and a harbinger of visitors yet to come.
