“Waitress”

This sign outside a hotel in Coromandel, New Zealand, had me wondering: did they want a waitress, or something else entirely? What would her duties be, really? I mean, let’s be clear and not just air-quotes around the bush about it. “Waitress.” Nudge-nudge, wink-wink. To help the “cook.” And the “patrons” of the “hotel.” Sure.
