CALLE CUBA
This street sign in Old Havana, on the side of a crumbling building, is an appropriate symbol for Cuba. The elegance of the past is deteriorating, but everywhere one goes in Havana these days there is renovation underway. Old buildings are being carefully restored to reflect their proud heritage, and where restoration is too late, new buildings are going up.
