2CV AND SMART, PARIS

On Ile St. Louis in Paris, and in fact throughout Paris, streets are very narrow, there are way too many cars, and parking is at a premium. In the 1950s and '60s, the Citroën 2CV, the venerable "deux chevaux" (two horses) was the ideal Parisian car -- small, easy to park, and inexpensive to drive. Over time the cars got larger and less fuel efficient, leading to the newest ideal Parisian car, the Smart. If only we could get more people out of their SUVs and into little cars like these...
