ARC-EN-CIEL DOUBLE, PARIS
Coming out of the Paris metro at the Place de la Concorde just after a heavy downpour in February, 2007, I could see that the sky to the east had turned black, yet the sky to the west was brightening by the minute. A rainbow (arc-en-ciel) was about to happen. I whipped out my camera just as the sun dipped below the clouds in the west behind me, and the black sky over the Tuilleries lit up with a glorious double arc. Even with a 28mm lens, I wasn't able to capture the entire bow, let alone all of the double bow. My excitement at heading off to see where the rainbow ended was squashed, however, as I had a date to see Monet's giant paintings Les Nymphéas in the newly restored Musée de l’Orangerie. And that was as much of a thrill as seeing the rainbow!
