Looming over the banks of the Vezere river in tiny St. Leon-sur-Vezere is the imposing Chateau de Clerans. St. Leon is one of the "Plus Beaux Villages de France" which we passed through on our bicycles. The center of the village is dominated by a 12th century church which chimed noon, causing two dogs lounging nearby to begin to howl in sympathy with the bells.
