HUÎTRES SIGN, BÉLON, FRANCE
Just up river from where the Aven and Bélon rivers empty into the Atlantic, some of the best oysters in the world are cultivated. In the middle of the oyster beds is tiny Port de Bélon, the star attraction of which is Chez Jacky, a seafood restaurant of great reknown. Seated inside in their dining room, outside on their extensive deck, or at the raw-bar, this place has got to be one of the most wonderful gastronomic experiences in France. A platter of Bélon plat oysters, some crevettes, a langoustine or two, a bottle of a crisp Muscadet-sur-lie, and I'm in heaven!
