VERNAZZA HARBOR
The Italian Riviera walking path from the Cinque Terra village of Monterosso to Vernazza climbs steeply up the terraced hills and then winds along the terraces before descending sharply into the village of Vernazza. When first seen from high up on the path, it is as if you are flying over the harbor, or are looking at a scale model. It is all too perfect, it can't be real. But it is, and a cold glass of something wet served at one of the trattorias on the piazza by the church is most welcome after the strenuous hike.
