AFTER THE RAIN
Along side the path to my studio in my back yard in Medford, Massachusetts, there are some plants that I love to look at after a summer thunder storm (Lady's Mantle, alchemilla mollis). The rain beads up and glistens like pearls in some angles of light, and they behave like magnifying lenses. Here the field of view is about one inch wide, and the droplets magnify the tiny hairs on the leaf surface that help hold the water in droplets.
