FERN, CASCADE HEAD, OREGON Climbing a steep Forest Service road deep in the forest which covers Cascade Head, just north of Lincoln City on the central Oregon coast, I studied a new crop of ferns just coming out. On one side of the road, the ferns clung to the hillside, holding it back from mudslides, while the view from the other side of the road was in the tree tops, the bases far below. Streamlets burbled everywhere while trilium blossoms, just past, displayed their wilted and faded glory. And the unfurling ferns made spectacles of themselves. This image, as a limited edition (25) frame-ready 12x18" archival toner print, is available for purchase at 13FOREST Gallery, Arlington, Massachusetts. |
