L’AZZURRO MEDITERRANEO, RIOMAGGIORE, ITALY
The azure blue Mediterranean twinkles and shimmers at the edge of the tiny town of Riomaggiore, one of the five towns of La Cinque Terra on the Italian Riviera. It was a crystal morning as we waited to board a ferry while enjoying a deeply roasted cup of caffè espresso at a harborside trattoria. Late summer breezes blew in off the water keeping the air clear and clean. Below us, the Mediterranean beckoned, its waters so inviting, so inviting, but we had a schedule to keep and other towns to visit.
