PONKAPOAG ICE #1
Just south of Boston lies Ponkapoag Pond. One early winter day, we took a hike around the pond with a group of Appalachian Mountain Club hikers. It had snowed heavily the week before, then had rained, and finally frozen again, leaving intriguing ice patterns amongst the grass, leaves and pine needles on the edge of the pond.
