PONKAPOAG ICE #2
Ponkapoag Pond lies just south of Blue Hill, a few miles southwest of Boston. One early winter day, we took a hike around the pond with a group of Appalachian Mountain Club hikers. It had snowed heavily the week before, then had rained, and finally frozen again, leaving intriguing ice patterns above the grass near the edge of the pond.
