STONE SLEEPERS, PESCADERO, CALIFORNIA
A few miles south of San Francisco, on the San Mateo County coast, is a stretch of shore line with some of the most amazing rock formations I have ever seen. The sandstone formations on the beach, eroded into bizarre shapes, take on some of the characteristics of the supernatural. Who are these stone sleepers? Years ago, when I lived in California, I attempted to photograph some of these rock formations, but was never really satisfied with the results. In the spring of 2008 we went back to the Coast and I spent several hours studying the enigmatic rocks of Pescadero and making a few images. |
