LAURELHURST #7
This portrait of a sycamore in Laurelhurst Park in Portland, Oregon, is part of a series of portraits I did of the wonderfully lumpy trees in the park. Located on SE 39th near Burnside, this gem of a park was designed by the office of Frederick Law Olmstead around 1910 or so. These sycamores probably date from that time, and have aged so marvelously. Each tree has its own personality, each taking on the semblance of an elderly person beginning to sag as gravity takes hold. Butts, bellys, and breasts, underarms, calves, and thighs, they're all here.
