Lowell Gears

LOWELL GEARS

On July 12, 2004, the White Light photography club of Lexington and Medford, Massachusetts went on a "shoot out" to Lowell, Massachusetts. Our task was to shoot whatever we wanted, and then gather at a lunch spot to talk about the morning's success or failure, sharing images by peering at each other's camera backs. Running through Lowell are several canals which were used to power the many Industrial Revolution era factories. These gears were part of giant sluiceway gates used to control the flow of water to one of the mills.
