A nighttime visit to the Nasrid Palace of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain is much more serene than during the heat of the day. Although at night one cannot visit any of the gardens, the places one can visit take on a more ethereal quality. Very carefully lit so that the lights are unobtrusive, there is a subtlety about the lighting that simulates moonlight. Gone are the crowds and the constantly screaming chimney swifts. Without a tripod, I set my camera down directly on the stone pavement to create this unusual low-angle shot.
